ABOUT MARUBIA

Marubia is a German saxophonist, composer, and rising creative voice blending spiritual jazz, Nordic Jazz, ambient textures, and lyricism. A student of Greg Osby’s Hamburg JazzPort masterclass and influenced by visionaries like Coltrane, Sanders, and Garbarek, her music is deeply introspective — a soundscape of memory, spirit, and silence. With her album "A Seeker’s Dream" (Inner Circle Music), Marubia emerges as a bold, genre-defying artist with a spiritual and emotional clarity that resonates across borders.

ABOUT THE ALBUM

A Seeker’s Dream” is Marubia’s bold musical invitation inward—unbound by conventional jazz narratives. Across nine original compositions, she crafts a soundscape rooted in personal evolution and spiritual searching: introspective, lyrical, expressive, and emotionally immersive. Her instrumental presence, combined with nuanced arrangements for horns, strings, and ambient textures, reveals a sensitive and mature voice.

Featured Instruments:

  • Bass Clarinet (Tracks 2, 3)

  • Voice (Tracks 3, 4, 5, 8)

Behind some of the tracks:

As Far As the Eyes Can See” — A melody that came in a dream, a piece with spiritual overtones, setting a tone of openness and imagination.

What If” — Marubia’s first saxophone composition — a pivotal moment in her artistic path, closely connected to the mentorship of Greg Osby.

Remember” — An epic piece, fusing Classic, Indian and Jazz music influences with a deeply spiritual message of remembrance and reverence.

Intro” / “Outro” — These two ambient compositions frame the album as a nonlinear, dream-like journey — cyclical and contemplative.

ARTISTIC STATEMENT

‘My music is about a journey — not so much through time and space, but inward, into the self. It’s a deeply introspective process of connecting, growing, and ultimately serving her: Music." – Marubia

Here the story of the connection between Greg Osby and Marubia:

"In a very special way this album also completes a personal circle — one of growth, connection, and gratitude — linking my first steps as a musician with the deep sense of affirmation received along the way.” - Marubia

German saxophonist, vocalist, and composer Marubia returns with A Seeker’s Dream, her second album and first for Inner Circle Music. Set for release on 7 October 2025, the recording is a deeply personal exploration of sound, stillness, and transformation. Blending the spiritual depth of Nordic and spiritual jazz with ambient textures, trip-hop grooves, and cinematic expanses, Marubia invites listeners into a space of reflection and inner movement. Joined by long-time collaborator Fontaine Burnett, the album weaves nine original compositions into a seamless arc — from the meditative “Intro” to the closing “Outro” — creating what she describes as a journey through the inner landscape of the human spirit. Recorded with intention and vulnerability, A Seeker’s Dream continues Marubia’s evolution as an artist unbound by genre yet grounded in authenticity. We spoke with Marubia about the inspiration behind the album, her collaboration with Burnett, and the search for connection through music....

This rejection of labels, as Marubia herself has confirmed, is central to her philosophy: "If music had no name, no label, I would still know when it spoke to me. (...) Style doesn't matter.

What matters is the soul of the music, its message, its power to awaken reflection and self-realization ."

A Seeker's Dream is, ultimately, a map of a non-physical territory. It's an invitation to explore those recesses of consciousness rarely illuminated by sound. Marubia has taken the discipline of the conservatory, exploded it with the freedom of jazz, and channeled it into modern hypnosis, creating a work that is both a concert and an act of meditation. Listening to this album isn't a pastime, but an immersion. It's like watching a shadow dance in the dim light of a candle, knowing that the shadow itself is more real than the wall it's projected onto.

At the end of the sonic journey, when the outro fades away the last reverberations, you haven't simply listened to an album: you've completed a cycle. You remain suspended, waiting, in the silence just created.

The breath of the saxophone fades; the mysterious sound of one's own heartbeat remains, now transformed into a slow, steady internal rhythm.

...Recorded with intention and vulnerability, A Seeker's Dream is a meditation on presence, a celebration of communion through sound, and a step into the unknown. It's a heartfelt debut from an artist who refuses to be confined by genre, and who offers a rare kind of musical honesty: one that resonates across borders, cultures, and dimensions.
