Music Projects

Marubia is also part of:

Kalá Kymata

Drawing from the jazz and improvisational traditions, Marubia and her Partner Fontaine Burnett aspire to honor their influences (the likes of John and Alice Coltrane, Pharaoh Sanders et al) and bring them together with the pulse of modern electronic music and a sensibility deeply rooted in spiritual awareness.

The name Kalá Kýmata translated from greek means “The Good Waves”.

These waves represent a stream of vibration that connects the deepest of ancient times to that of a distant and unknowable future…a connection that allows us to experience life beyond the perceptions of our three dimensional reality. What lies at the nexus of past and future, is only the here and now. This is where the work is done; synthesizing the impulses of the moment into a synergetic language that tells stories of times beyond time.

Music is the light that guides us down the path of love and growth. The instrumentation of choice in this sonic expedition: woodwinds, array mbira, LinnStrument, synthesizer, percussion, electronics and of course, the human voice.

Kalá Kýmata is:
Marubia (Germany)………………….woodwinds (tenor and soprano saxophones, flutes), vocals, synthesizer
Fontaine Burnett (USA) ……………array mbira, linnstrument, electronics, vocals

NOU

Nou is:
Marubia (Germany)………………….woodwinds (tenor and soprano saxophones, flutes), vocals, synthesizer
Fontaine Burnett (USA) ……………array mbira, linnstrument, electronics, vocals
Trixie Delgado (Germany)....................vocals

NOU is a trio of highly intuitive and aware musicians who relish in spontaneous, unrehearsed (and unrehearsable) musical interaction.

At a NOU concert, the energetic field of the space and its occupants become the fuel that is alchemically transformed into pure musical expression. The thoughts and emotions of the listeners gain wings and a voice through instruments of NOU.

A NOU concert is not just a concert…It is a celebration of the moment. NOU are not just musicians but channels for the emotions of the audience. The listeners are not just listeners, but collaborators in the creation of the moment. No two moments are ever the same and no two NOU concerts are ever the same.
