Marubia is a northern German-born artist whose deep connection to music began in early childhood. Introduced to music through traditional German folk instruments, piano lessons, and choral singing, she quickly discovered that music was not just a passion—it was her life’s calling. This led to years of conservatory study in saxophone, piano, and music pedagogy, along with mentorship from jazz luminaries such as Tony Lakatos, Lee Konitz, Greg Osby, Jasper van’t Hoff, Marcus Strickland and Gary Thomas—laying the foundation for a lifelong artistic journey.

Her musical path took a defining turn when she first heard Norwegian saxophonist Jan Garbarek’s “Dis”.

“I will never forget that moment. His music struck me so deeply that I knew I had to follow the dream I had carried for some years already. I borrowed a saxophone, and the moment I played those first notes, I knew—this was my voice in music. I connected with it instantly.”

Not long after picking up the saxophone, Marubia began composing. Her first piece, “What If ”, earned her a place in the Hamburg Jazz Port masterclasses with Greg Osby, Danny Gottlieb, and Buster Williams—an unexpected and pivotal moment in her journey as a musician.

Over the years, Marubia has collaborated with a wide array of international artists across genres. Her collaborations include U.S. rapper Eric “IQ” Grey; U.S. composer and artist Fontaine Burnett and Italian composer and drummer Egidio Rondinone—both central figures in Bari’s acid jazz scene; Ecuadorian artist Matailo Sagrado; German electronic producers Deep Dive Corp and Hellmut Hattler; composer and artist Mashtimusic from Copenhagen; German singer-songwriters Trixie Delgado, Anke Scheer, Julia Karr, and Andrea Selby; Cuban percussionist Marcus Ilucan; and UK-based reggae artist Sparkie Melody.

Her performances have taken her to stages and festivals across the globe, including, just to mention a few:

• Jazz Port, Hamburg, Germany

• Candombe Festival, Barra de Chuy, Uruguay

• Salzburger Festspiele, Salzburg, Austria

• Natkirken, Copenhagen Cathedral, Denmark

• Gypsy Festival, Hamburg, Germany

• Odyssey Album Release Concert, London, UK

• Materia Music Festival, Cisternino, Italy

• Roztoč Fest, Prague, Czech Republic

Marubia’s debut solo album “Odyssey” introduced her as a multifaceted artist—composer, vocalist, and instrumentalist (tenor and soprano saxophone, bass clarinet, and flute).

With her second album “A Seeker’s Dream” —which will be released Oct. 7th, 2025 on Greg Osby’s label Inner Circle Music INCM—she embarks on an introspective journey that reflects her passion for spiritual and Nordic jazz, while seamlessly weaving in elements of ambient music and trip hop. Drawing from her earliest experiences with jazz and classical music, she merges genres to craft a rich collection of atmospheric compositions—evocative soundscapes enriched by modern ambient textures, electronic pulses, and subtle drone techniques.

Inspired by visionaries like John Coltrane, Pharoah Sanders, Wayne Shorter, and her first influence Jan Garbarek, Marubia continues to shape a singular voice in contemporary jazz. Her music is rooted in spiritual depth and authenticity, offering listeners a transcendent experience that defies convention and resonates on a deeply emotional level.

Artist Statement:

“My music is a journey—not through time and space, but inward, into the self. It’s a deeply introspective process of connecting, growing, and ultimately serving her: Music.”

Shaped by sacred moments of stillness and transformation, Marubia's artistic path is intertwined with nature, cultural exploration, and the profound experience of motherhood. Raising and releasing her two sons has deepened her understanding of presence, surrender, and love—life lessons that echo through every note she creates.

“When you compose—or improvise—it is as if sound remembers an emotion you never had words for. Your music becomes a mirror of your own vibration. If someone else resonates with it, that’s communion across time, space, and culture. In that resonance, the boundary between self and other dissolves. That is the magic I seek.”
